Gaspar's Angels
Every year around Thanksgiving, your AA Lares Insurance Protection Team invites friends, family, and clients to join us is distributing food and hygiene essentials to local communities experiencing homelessness.
We welcome donations of toothbrushes, toothpaste, hand sanitizer, deodorant, socks, blankets, and other non-perishable goods in the months of October and November to support as many people as we can reach.
This tradition began in 2015 with lunch bags, sandwiches, water bottles, and a group of people with huge hearts. We gathered one night to make sandwiches and put together paper lunch bags with goodies to distribute on Thanksgiving morning.
Every year, we have more hands supporting us in our efforts to create connection with all people in our community and make an impact.
Our why?
In 1995, Patty's brother Gaspar was diagnosed with schizophrenia. For the next 18 years, Gaspar was missing, when one day, her family received a call that somebody had found him.
When Patty's family was reunited with Gaspar, he told them that he had been homeless for those years, but he always had people supporting him, whether it was by giving him food, directions, or a place to sleep.
Because of the generosity and care provided to Patty's brother for so many years, from people he didn't know, he was able to survive on the streets for 18 years.
It was this incredible reunion and story that inspired Patty to begin supporting families in her local area who were experiencing homeless.
After all, we never know who's brother or sister we may be supporting.
