Swimming Pool Safety
Summer is almost over, but the heat is still on! Weekend pool parties are becoming more appealing in this weather, as well as the inevitable family and friends swim meets. If you plan on hosting a cool summer pool party, we highly recommend protecting yourself as the life of the party. Guests can find themselves in many dangerous situations if they are not careful. We recommend taking the following precautions to ensure the safety of others, as well as yourself.
Some general safety guidelines for a backyard pool include a self-locking fence, clear pool-side rules, and having accessible safety equipment. A fence around your pool decreases the chances of children falling in while unsupervised. It is also a reminder that people are not allowed in, unless you give permission! Setting clear rules for pool-side behavior is very important. You wouldn’t want people running around the pool while the floor is slippery! Even though you don’t need an active lifeguard on duty, having safety equipment such as a life hook or a flotation device openly displayed decreases the risk of drowning.
You are responsible for any injuries that may occur on your property, even if a person wasn’t invited to the party. We want you to have a care-free summer bash, rather than an end of summer crash. To ensure that you are protected, give us a call today and ask to speak with one of our protection coaches.
